But you don't use LiveTV so what's the problem ;). I do use it now and
then and the full EPG is too bloated for simple 'I now want to watch...
this!'. When you turn on LiveTV, you don't need all the info right to
the show that's coming up next and in EPG you often get left with a stub
of what used to be a programme but only lasts 15 minutes and now you
only see that... something _was_ there actually.

I think the amount of buttons will grow in the player at a steady pace
with new features, this is inevitable.

I've an idea, though - a 'selector' widget that will take the space of
one button in the player but when you wait a moment (just like the cog
appears in other views), other options will show up above and below
(like here you'd have full EPG and N&N). You will then be able to press
up/down and the alternatives will move up and down. The selector will
stay at the previously activated item.

I wouldn't... Just as I said - I'd want the N&N to be available for
LiveTV and EPG for when I want to maybe set a schedule up.

Except when you "go right" you go right and up, but when it would be at
the left, it would be weird to land in a completely different place. As
the guys @ Fluendo are committed to the 6-button remote and even more to
usability, I don't think this will get the needed applause. And I
wouldn't give it either. I'd rather have separate menu entries than
that. Especially since the two, for me, are meant for two different
usecases.
