So, what problems do I immediately see?

Well, considering that Moovida uses an opacity technique to tell the
user that additional things (e.g. bars of a list) can be scrolled
to,
I am not sure how to do this with an EPG guide like this. If you
are
a visual person you might understand what I mean. How do I do
opacity
changes on the 'grey bars' we use when they move to the left of the
screen and tuck under the TV station logos? Those bars are going to
be different lengths to represent different lengths of the TV
shows...then we need to do the same technique for the right of the
screen. Instinctively, I know this is going to look visually
weird...
but maybe, I might be able to solve this in Photoshop or by testing
out some 'comps' to get this worked out...so for now I will
continue.

The current list modifies opacity of the whole item, right? The whole
list row / grid cell gets it's opacity reduced. What I would see
consistent with the rest of Moovida UI is a thin, constant-width
opacity
gradient from top to bottom on both sides of the grid. There's one
problem with that... AFAIK we can't have opacity masks in current
pigment...

Let me explain... (check out the orange arrows on the thumbnail
sketch) I go up and down TV stations (imagine there are 100 or so),
so
that means the up and down buttons are taken... then I go left and
right through the 'timeline'... that means the left and right
buttons
are taken. So, I have a problem now... I can navigate up to those
buttons so the user can switch between the views!

We discussed this with Kevin in one of our posts. He proposed that the
upper buttons could be accessible by going to the far left and left
again (that is if the farthest left available item is "now"). I don't
think that's a good idea. I'd rather have the two views separate in
the
menu. Watch TV > it shows you 'now & then', Programme Guide > the full
fledged guide.

I don't like the menu thing because you might also want to show the EPG in other places as well. For example, if your in the player and you want to pop up the epg. Which one do you show? If you have a single EPG with
different modes, you always just pop up the 'EPG' and in the mode last
used.

Yes and no...remember the speed at which Moovida can go backwards and forwards through screens. No reason why there couldnt be an EPG button on the player... LiveTV continues in the background as the EPG comes up. Then 'back' (menu button on Apple Remote)... and you are back to 'the player' and live TV.
