Invariably, this kind of information is Ordnance Survey derived and so
licensed very restrictively.

OpenStreetMap, which is CC-BY-SA licensed, might be worth looking at.

I know there are a lot of commons, greens and other open spaces described in
the OSM dataset.  However, coverage will be incomplete and patchy.
