The story I was told by my father (who ran academic research on the island - including archaeological surveys), is that the Isle of Man government decided they did not want to pay for the Ordinance Survey to create accurate maps of the Island (if you try walking there you will see what I mean immediately). This has had an impact on all sorts of mapping related activities such as land registration. More recently they were induced to buy a solution from a company that thought they could infer the map using image processing software acting on aerial photographs, with disastrous effects. Or so I have been told. I'd like not to believe it, but it fits the facts. -- Francis Davey _______________________________________________ Mailing list [email protected] Archive, settings, or unsubscribe: https://secure.mysociety.org/admin/lists/mailman/listinfo/developers-public
