I've thought about doing this, and decided the best way would be to spread rock salt at some point in the "lifecycle" of the snow (I'm prepared to experiment). Question then: is the rock salt in the Council "grit bins" supposed to be used by residents or is it for the convenience of the Council only? If the latter, then where to buy it? Do any supermarkets stick it?
