Thank you Erik for this fine contribution.
At first. Jo, I don't want to offend you in any way.
You can argue if my contribution was fine or not. Maybe it was a little harsh. But I reached my goal: communication is restored.
I simply missed this mail, as I am not reading all mail on this list.
I looked in the mailing list archieve, but I could not find your first mail in this thread. It was a big mail with quite some announcements and statements. (the one with your statement: "beware of people listening to the list and not have such good intentions")
If someone sends such a comprehensive mail it is not strange that the other list members will react on it. And if you write such a comprehensive email these others expect that you follow the thread and that you will react on their contribution / questions. You are almost obliged to do so. What's the point of a major contribution on a major subject if you don't follow up on the questions / opinions / ... of other contributors?
Personally I don't want to use (spam) this list too much for other issues than technical ones, but if developers think I shoud be more reluctant in informing you on this list, I could change this attitude.
Development is more then technical issues, solving bugs, etc. You might know that. So you are not spamming this list. A major part of the MMBase developers want to be informed and want to participate in all kinds of discussions and developments around mmbase. As the other contributions in this thread confirm.
As the issue "debate on MMBase" has been followed by several live meetings, I don't think there is a reason to keep this thread going.
A mailing list and developer meetings are two different things. Not everybody is able to attend to the developers meetings. If a discussion on the mailing list gets a follow up on a develpers meeting, thats ok. But it might be nice for all people who are not able to attend the meetings to give some feedback. Now this thread seemed bleeded to death.
Since there are a lot of replies, there might be a need for threads like these. Worth keeping this thread open for a while?
