Hai,
In the vote on principles it became clear that we lost the rules on what makes a contributions. To have something ive placed the following file in CVS (in the root of contributions). Please correct any language errors ive made in this fine and place comments on the dev-list if you don't agree (i am doing this from memory even google count not fine the rules anymore).

Uhh,
google: MMBase 3rd Party
and the first hit is
http://www.mmbase.org/mmdocs18/3rdparty.html

well i asked 4 developers on irc (all commitors) and they didn't know. The document is not very clear either that we are talking about the contributions cvs. If these are the rules fine but then i don't really see how for example the lucene got abstrain votes.

we need to make this more clear im a commitor and i didn't get it. I want to share things i make with others and this is not helping.

I believe the confusion on irc was about 'contributions' and 'applications'. The term 3rd Party packages maybe another one that adds to the confusion :-) allthough the document Nico refers to is quite clear that is neither a community application nor a contribution.

I agree and added a link in the readme.txt in cvs to this document. But if you follow all the 'demands' given in the document you should get +1's from all commitors right ? its more a checklist unlike with applicaitions. The second thing that worries me is that i just started a project and want to develope
it in the open so can i get a +1 on a promise ?
