Since 1.8.0 is out, we can now think about what we can do for upcoming
releases.

To be fair i think we should base what is needed/want. in 1.9 on feedback and commitments from users and big partners its all fine to again point at some part of the core and say 'its ugly lets replace it' but it might not help
end users or partners.

My personal view is that the biggest area of interest should be aimed at
making the first steps to allow the upcoming framework who's aim is to be able to write components easer and share them easer (thats still the core
reason we started MMBase).

So i see Michieal list as a very valid one since its clearly a inbetween list the adding of performance tests is one i like alot since its a area where
mmbase is lacking alot. You can claim MMBase is slow but i personally
don't see what to base that on since well i haven't seen any performance
tests to make that claim. Dropping 1.4 support is also fine with me.

Changing the core i would only do if its clear that we don't have enough
work on the component/framework issue (and that will be moved to 2.0) since i feel having a framework that allows the sharing of components is paramount
in the developemt of MMBase the coming year.

Daniel.
