Indeed, I think a lot of the open source community would in general be
improved with better tools for users to directly incentivize particular
work. (For instance, there are features I would really like to see added
to sphinx that I would probably pay for, if there was a reasonably
painless way for me to do so.)

Someone posted an idea about having "tokens" in jira/gerrit/etc. I
didn't necessarily agree with every particular, but I think the general
idea has merit.

We need more open-source-meets-kickstarter...
