Let me explain... and take this opportunity to <rant> a bit. Definitely not personal buddy ;-> The current implementation of 'Blades' uses a mechanism for transferring files from service.e-smith.com, over the Internet and onto your server. This means your blade choices and downloads are limited to those approved and made available by Mitel. Jaime's implementation is independent of Mitel and permits the installation of packaged update files via the developer's transfer means of choice. As a project developer, the developer may simply e-mail the .upd file to all registered clients, or post on their development website for easy download. As this is totally independent of Mitel, control rests with the developer to implement their updates as best meets their needs and their clients. When Mitel releases their Blades documentation, we may have another choice. However we have not been given any definitive time line from Mitel and we also have no idea how effective their solution will be for our unsupported contribs. I expect we will hear many viewpoints on list that do not wish to support or encourage developer ideas like this. Just remember all Jaime is doing is providing everyone with a choice. He has built this for internal usage to fill a direct client need. He has posted for others to use if they so wish. Trevor and I both had a very similar need and project we just completed for our clients. Until we see Mitel's solution, at it's simplest, Jaime's solution provides a choice that is independent and available today. Personally I'd like to see open minded developers take a look at Jaime's solution and submit ideas to make it better ;-> Regards, -- Darrell May DMC Netsourced.com http://netsourced.com http://myEZserver.com -- Please report bugs to [EMAIL PROTECTED] Please mail [EMAIL PROTECTED] (only) to discuss security issues Support for registered customers and partners to [EMAIL PROTECTED] To unsubscribe, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] For additional commands, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Archives by mail and http://www.mail-archive.com/devinfo%40lists.e-smith.org
