Boy, we certainly didn't have to do that!  I just cycled the
power on one of our older HP printers to make sure nothing
had changed.  Looks fine:

Mar 10 19:39:07 lax dhcpd: BOOTREQUEST from 08:00:09:52:f6:72 via ef0
Mar 10 19:39:07 lax dhcpd: BOOTREPLY for 192.52.153.106 to hpsi 
    (08:00:09:52:f6:72) via ef0

We have a shared network declared.  That device is in the
subnet that doesn't have a "range" declared.  I'm not certain
that the fixed-address devices on the subnet where the dynamic
range exists are making BOOTP-style requests or DHCP-style,
but they're all getting their IP addresses, or I'd know about
it!
