I think the primary goal of the viafb/directfb driver is good hardware
support for directfb usage. As you already noticed, viafb is mainly used
by directfb applications, and many developers add a few things to this
driver there.

The primary goal is not inclusion into the kernel, but any effort is
welcome. If you can get this driver into the kernel tree, I don't think
anybody could blame you ;-)
