I would. None of the alternative root server networks have organized
well enough, or provided any incentive for ISPs to do that. Combined,
all of the alternative (non-ICANN) roots do not have even 1%
visibility.
Each one has their own set of flaws and reasons why they haven't grown
and acheived any kind of serious visibility.
The ORSC has picked up a trickle this year, from two things really.
One is the antics of Joe and his .god getting some humorous coverage
in some online media, and the other is projects like the one
undertaken by Pacificroot.com, who is now running a live registry
under a number of TLDs and has also invested quite a bit of marketing
money. But despite those efforts, the ORSC is only slightly more well
known.
The problem (as I see it of course) is that they believe an
alternative namespace is viable for real world application. I don't
agree. My only interest in an alt.root would be to get it in such
wide use that it can be used as a sledge hammer to force changes in
the way ICANN is managing the new TLD process.
