One question I do have, although I understand that technically, from a
database point of view, it may be challenging to move between RSPs, but from
an administrative stand point, why should the losing RSP's status (Live,
inactive, bankrupt, gone from the planet, etc) matter? For that matter, why
does the losing RSP need to be involved at all?

Given that I can transfer a domain away from OpenSRS (And therefore the RSP
as well), without the RSP even being informed of the matter, transferring to
another RSP shouldn't really be an administrative nightmare (for the
registrant) should it? To me, the extra hassle of transferring between RSPs
means that if I, as an end user, are dissatisfied with one RSP, it's faster
and easier to go to another registrar (non-opensrs), rather then deal with
another OpenSRS RSP. This puts all RSPs at a disadvantage, at least in a
limited circumstance.

Sadly, this is one area where Network Solutions is, IMO, superior to
OpenSRS. I can transfer a domain to Network Solutions (To get away from an
RSP I'm ticked with) with a simple webform and email confirmation, but to
transfer to another RSP, I must fax and wait several days.
