This is a simple scheme - and a necessary one. We have to be absolutely
sure the owners of the domain, and the RSPs involved all have their
accounts in check.
You can only renew a domain if you are the active RSP for said domain. If
you have been dealing with another company, they can freely charge you
what they wish to renew your domain for you.
They ARE allowed to change vendors, that's what this system is setup to
do, to allow you to change RSPs if the relationship has soured, the RSP
has gone out of business, or they can no longer fulfil your needs.
That being said, the ONLY way to get this done is by the method described
in the FAQ. It's simple, effective, and protects all parties involved
(and has worked, I might add, for the year we've been doing this)
