Which would put a final nail in the coffin of domain speculators. From you
prior argument, this would mean the domain biz is no longer healthy?

The part of your argument for speculators that I don't understand is that if
those names have ANY demand, then they'll be sold quickly enough. In the
end, exactly the same number of domains get registered. Since the
registrars don't make a penny more for the most valued names, it doesn't
make a wit of difference. The best you can hope for is that a number of
clueless speculators will hold valueless names indefinitely. What happens
when speculator A gives up 'PETS4U.COM' after sitting on it for a couple
years? Don't expect another speculator to pick it up. Either someone
desiring the name will register it (eventually) or it will never be
registerd.

I'm afraid I don't quite see the analogies to other speculative ventures.
You don't buy collectible cars, or pieces of real estate by the hundreds,
for essentially nothing, hoping to sell a single one for big bucks. Sounds
more like buying lottery tickets.
