whois isn't really hacked... try this
 
telnet whois.crsnic.net 43
then type "yahoo.com"
 
you'll see the information that you thought was "hacked", actually it's searching for domains AND nameservers with the string yahoo.com in it.
 
then try this
telnet whois.crsnic.net 43
then type "domain yahoo.com"
 
many whois cgi scripts will show the "hacked" yahoo, actually most of the time you can modify the scripts to search using the prefix domain.
NOTE: not all whois servers support "domain"
