I get good feedback about http://www.it.ca/bin/whois .  If you're
looking for a script to run on your own server, there are a few
commercial ones available, along with a swath of PHP tools which
can be found a couple of clicks past the Links link on the PHP site.

You DID kind of bring that on yourself....  ;-)

Incidentally, I've removed the host record from the canadian.org domain.
You should see it gone as soon as the change hits the registry whois
servers.  I can't help you with smack.net, though.  The admin who
created the record is no doubt on the list and watching.  Track him down
via whois and ask nicely, and I'm sure he'll comply.  Think of it as a
"field aptitude test".  ;>
