David, We have searched considerably internally and there is no fax request that would have allowed for this to happen in such a manner. We're still looking into things - also, we could call the old registrant, but without the current registrant offering proof of ownership there's not much we can do; we'd be stuck in a "he said, she said" situation. There are three sides to every story, and it's up to us to determine the truth (the onus of proof is on OpenSRS as the registrar, incase something considerably horribly happens - i.e. the old registrant is incorrect or misled, etc)
We are still doing an internal investigation to track things down, as I've stated several times before this isn't something that typically happens quickly (we're at the mercy of other's response times) but are doing what we can to expediate the process.
