The only downside I see is added complexity. Some will argue that the need for this is dubious as well. Changing the way the registry works isn't something they will do on a whim. Especially when there are easier ways of handling this, at the registrar. All the customer wants is to renew all of the domains the same time every year, and if you provide that functionality and ensure non of their domains will expire prematurely, you've solved their problem, right? Anyway, it doesn't affect me much since I can workaround this like I described. If the functionality does finally come around, then I'll use it. But until then, I won't be holding breath :) JE
