People who remix, and who appreciate the value of remix, know it as another form of creation. But I think that what you present to the world by emphasizing "cut, copy, paste" out of context -- to people who don't think of cutting, copying, and pasting as part of creation, and may even think of it as stealing -- is an incomplete picture. I suppose for any material it's just considering who your audience is -- the conference site, for example, is mostly going to be seen by people who intend to go, or are already interested. (And it's a clever and visually appealing design.) If I were trying to show someone from the traditional IP world what Free Culture is about, though, I would want to emphasize the elements of original creation that make the cut-copy-paste into a new artistic work. -Kat -- Your donations keep Wikipedia online: http://donate.wikimedia.org/en Wikimedia, Press: [EMAIL PROTECTED] * Personal: [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Mindspillage * (G)AIM:Mindspillage mindspillage or mind|wandering on irc.freenode.net * email for phone _______________________________________________ Discuss mailing list [email protected] http://freeculture.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/discuss
