If you'd like, I probably still have a few gigabytes of flame mail from the
decision of the OpenSolaris sponsor to take the name of the project and use
it for their own distro, elevating it to a apparently higher status than all
the existing community distros. Was not a fun time to be on the OGB.
There was a reason that before that decision distros had to pick a unique name
(though there was also trademark protection involved as well, since Sun did not
want to weaken the protection of the Solaris trademark by allowing others to
use derivative names).
