Ok, thanx for the explanation. What are these couple of programs requesting the caching info? The machine did not face the issue for months, than did it once. This time, the machine has been up for just one week (we had a maintenance shutdown last week). Can't see what is the software causing this request. Is there any other way to completely block this call and let it respond a specific value? In my case, controller caches are all disabled, and the system knows it via the "no cache flush".
I think that the zfs kernel threads are requesting this info from time to time, I suspect that calling 'zpool <something>' could initiate such calls, as well as scrubs and health checks. I only see them a few times per day. -- Dr.Udo Grabowski Inst.f.Meteorology a.Climate Research IMK-ASF-SAT www-imk.fzk.de/asf/sat/grabowski/ www.imk-asf.kit.edu/english/sat.php KIT - Karlsruhe Institute of Technology http://www.kit.edu Postfach 3640,76021 Karlsruhe,Germany T:(+49)721 608-26026 F:-926026 ------------------------------------------- illumos-discuss Archives: https://www.listbox.com/member/archive/182180/=now RSS Feed: https://www.listbox.com/member/archive/rss/182180/21175430-2e6923be Modify Your Subscription: https://www.listbox.com/member/?member_id=21175430&id_secret=21175430-6a77cda4 Powered by Listbox: http://www.listbox.com
