I still don't understand if I should consider the adaptec driver dangerous, so maybe I should substitute the hardware with another controller (2 areca maybe). We've been using this stuff but never had such problems. Also this storage, never had problems for 2-3 months then started one time with this failure, and a second time last week. I think that the zfs kernel threads are requesting this info from time to time, I suspect that calling 'zpool ' could initiate such calls, as well as scrubs and health checks.
