I'm going to speak up here and ask that the org doesn't officially ban discussions on patent related info. I for one would rather have some policy of tagging the discussion by the poster. I don't want to be required to not be allowed to find out about new patents that have an impact on my work. I want to know about them. And yes, I've been through the issue twice before with clients. Fortunately, one was over a hardware issue, which never really required me to get that involved.

Any contact with a lawyer is unpleasant in my book — I've had the unfortunate pleasure of doing that a lot lately :). But this is something that I'm willing to put up with in order to not be left in the dark.

Now that's just me. Obviously, there will be others on this list who will have, or have a different view.
