Jim,

You're right I probably shouldn't have used the term "killer
app", but it does stand to reason that Chrome better present a
pretty damn good reason to switch. I would wager that most of the
folks on this list use multiple browsers either for testing or just
because we're geeks like that. We are different than the majority of
people out there who use whatever came packaged with their computer
from Best Buy. In order to get reasonable market share, Google is
going to have convert some of those people. It's a tough sell. No, I
don't think Google would call it a success with only 1-5% market
share, those numbers probably wouldn't justify the expense.

I hope they succeed. In fact, as someone who works on the Web and
spends a ridiculous amount of client time and money building for and
testing on multiple browsers, I hope someone like Google can get
enough market share to finally convince MS to actually pay attention
to Web standards. IE 6 and 7 probably increase design production
expense by an average of 20% per project.
