I should probably also mention that the data logging / reporting
software I was referring to is collaborative, such that the data is
immediately shared with other users logged into the system working on
the same task. Because of this, a save button is superfluous—probably
even detrimental to the understanding of the way in which the software
works. I recognize, of course, that this is an edge case, but a common
one in the industries I work in.
