Take a tip from the Game Industry. Turn the next button into a store
and proceed, or save and continue, button.

No one has to know that it was saved before they hit it and it is now
only moving them to the next step.

Allow the auto save to be discoverable, even mention that it will
auto-save so those savvy will pick up on it.

This will let those who don't know/trust auto-save to be happy, and
provides it for those who need it.
