I think it's become an expected feature, Juan, and is used quite a bit by novice and intermediate users.
I'm like you -- I NEVER use this feature because I don't trust the sites to use my friend's email addresses responsibly. Just put a line of small-sized text close to the button explaining that the site won't ever use the email addresses for anything other than the emailing feature (maybe include a link to the privacy policy, too).
