I followed the whole Skittles / Modernista hype on Twitter a couple days ago, and I can't say that I am as enthusiastic about it as everyone else.
Most of the reactions I saw flying by were similar to: "Wow, this is really great!" "Great! Finally a company that let's the people represent them" "Great implementation of using social media to define your brand!" I however am far more skeptical about the new site. I think the concept of letting your users define your brand is great, however I think the implementation is terrible. For us (interaction designers, new media experts, and so on) the site is great, we are familiar with these tools (such as Twitter and Wikipedia) and the concepts behind them. However, I think the average Skittles.com visitor will be very confused when visiting the site. The last thing I would expect when going to skittles.com is to see twitter.com. What do you think? . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
