It certainly doesn't hurt to offer. And it doesn't hurt to consider where they're at or where they're coming from either.
Many times a kludgy interface is due to it being dictated by the "back end" where an apparently easy tweak can wreak havoc on other layers (talking to the DB, e-commerce, etc.) Despite the intention being great, I'd be a little concerned assuming that they'd be able to carry out any interface/interaction improvements in timely or affordable fashion (even if we offer up resources). Anything that requires additional overhead or action from them (like downloading files) may simply not be feasible, even in times of non-crisis. However, in the spirit and to extend Alex's comments, justgive.org and capitalone.com/give are examples that give us a unified donation experience, independent of the charity. In that light, a customizable and free interface could even sit on top of a processing system that routes payments as configured w/out charging any additional processing fees (like justgive & similar sites). This way the charity doesn't have any additional overhead, like needing to figure out how to apply this interface to their current backend system. Can't stop dreaming. Cheers, -j ps- the text donation was a breeze, even if i did have to send 3 texts to make 1 donation. anyone know if all proceeds go to the charity or if there's a cut taken out like cc processors? . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
