You need to configure jumbo frames, you need to tweak tcp buffers in the
kernel among other things, and with software iscsi initiators you're
really at the mercy of the coders. Lots of NICs these days for servers
come with hardware iscsi initiators which would perform better most
likely given the state of software initiators.
