Please allow me to clarify . . . I didn't say or even suggest that LOPSA should move to Google groups or even that LOPSA should change anything about how its members communicate. What I _did_ say was that people have lots of options for creating impromptu groups for ephemeral events like conferences, Google Groups being just one example. If people want to create a LOPSA mailing list for a conference, great -- let them ask LOPSA for help/support; but for most people they're going to use Google or Yahoo! or Meetup or whatever whether we like those mechanisms/venues or not.
