[Full disclosure: I work for Indeed.com, a job search engine.]

Have you considered that maybe you're just marketing your job in the
wrong locations or to the wrong people? Reddit may be great, but you
may not necessarily be advertising your job to all the right people in
Herndon (or even advertising it in that area at all). Consider that
potential junior system administrators in Herndon (and surrounding
areas) may not be looking at reddit for a new job; they're more likely
using a job board, job search engine, or services like LinkedIn.

Just as an aside: I did a search on our site to see if your job
listing had popped up on any public website or through any other
search engine and job board. I could not pick it out (even using some
of the specific phrasing in the posting you recently made to the
mailing list). So it's hard to say whether you're hitting your target
demographic or not.
