Hey everyone,

I stumbled on an organization called the "Association of Information
Technology Professionals" (AITP <https://aitp.site-ym.com>) today. They
have a Long Island <http://www.aitp-li.org/> Chapter, which I'm probably
going to check out. But, I was wondering if anyone else has heard of them
and what you think about the organization.

They seem to have goals similar to LOPSA, including a "knowledge center"
(hidden behind the paywall). I know there have been initiatives to get a
body of knowledge going (the latest incarnation being associated with
Will's professionalization post). They seem to have a developed jobs board.
They even (briefly) mention mentoring. Though they have their own education
special interest group <http://aitp-edsig.org/members/membership.htm>.

Has LOPSA ever reached out to them? Is anyone even aware of them? I wasn't
until just now. Any opinions?

Thanks,
Ed
