I'm in full blown research mode right now. I can post my findings once I'm done.
I just joined. I think John's right about encompassing anything that touches a computer. But, a few of their leaders are on Long Island, and the chapter seems to be doing well. If nothing else, I might be able to snag a client or two for my company. One thing that struck me so far was the fee for joining. LOPSA charges $40 (I think?), while they charge $100.00 plus a local chapter fee (mine was $30.00). They're able to do things like a Journal of Information Systems Applied Research. They had a paper detailing their demographics, but the link doesn't work. I might try to get my hands on it, because I'm rather curious too.
