I would have liked more information on the DDF sessions on Wednesday so I could plan to attend the ones that I had input on but I suspect most of the DDFs didn’t miss the people from the summit ☺.
My vote is keep the overlap, advertise the DDF sessions better and look more closely at what is scheduled in the Summit to limit the impact on the DDF day 1activities. Or some such thing... but not Tuesday and Friday that would be difficult. The tutorials are a great way to share information that was prepared and the DDF sessions were useful to get people talking and working. Everything else in the middle was a distraction. Yes, it is nice to attend other sessions and hit booths, but I spent most of my time in unconference sessions and couldn't even get around to look at other stuff. It does seem like we need more days in there. Overlapping with other events/projects was also distracting based on the compressed time. I was interested in the other events but had no time to join them. Also when things overlap on a schedule it makes it difficult to get all interested parties together. Many of us cross projects and it was very difficult to make DDF work over a day and a half with the unconference board fully stacked. You want a schedule so others can attend, but then you end up with overlap. So you end up with side discussions when you can get involved parties together, but then you lose out on getting other community members involved.
