People with range problems should look into getting a Linksys and then running the Sveasoft firmware on it. The Sveasoft firmware allows for (an illegal in the US) power boost for the transmitter. My WAP54g now gets 100% coverage where I need it in my 2000 sq. ft. house - I have not tried the kitchen in a while, but this is a very recommended free or $20 upgrade (I paid since it was a good thing).
True. I'd forgotten about that. I have a WRT54G with the Sveasoft firmware - not using it at the moment for my Squeezebox since it is currently only 5ft from the AP (through a wall, admittedly!)
