Yes, that is how you ensure that both the GUI mixer and the headless server are looking at the same cache file. The spicefly web page allows you to use some more of the headless functions than the standard web page. Either works fine. You can just use the MiP web page to take care of updating your library and adding music. The only reason to bring up the standalone GUI is to set up filters. These are actually quite handy. I use them so I can create mixes that don't include my kids' music, Christmas music, or some of my wife's music.
