No.

Not really. But you might want a SB Receiver for each zone if you want 
to be able to play different music in different rooms at the same time.

It's a matter of personal preference but if I were in your shoes 
(house), I'd put one receivers and amp in the closet for each room, I'd 
use ethernet cables to connect the SBR's to a network switch. I'd put a 
(Linux) server in the closet to run SqueezeCenter on and do lots of 
other things. I'd use X10 switch to turn the amps on/off with something 
like the bottlerocket plugin. Add one or more wireless access points to 
get wifi coverage for the controllers.

Then, I'd buy as many SB Controllers or iPod touches or whatever way you 
like to control SqueezeCenter.

That's what I'd do.
