1) No you can use the variable output on the SB. Personally I don't like
the idea of this, but I believe you can do it.
2) If you want different tracks played in each zone, you need a SB for
each zone.
3) Only use one pair of speakers per zone, or if you use two, use two
sets of 8ohm speakers with a decent amp. Or use A / B switching only
using room A with room B off, and likewise B on A off. Or if you do
switch on both speakers, as long as you're not at party levels a good
amp should power two sets of speakers at the same time.

There was a discussion a while ago and a Marantz amp popped up, I think
6 channel poweramp, remote controllable per stereo channel. If you do go
that route (SB fixed 100% line out rather than SB variable out) You need
to have a another remote, RF to IR for the Marantz. I believe you can
control IR devices from the SB headphone output with a plugin and a IR
blaster wire.
