One minor security note, if you are doing this without any tunneling
then pretty much ANYONE on the net can access your BOOM too.

Even using Squeezecenter's builtin password system is not safe for over
the net since it does not use ssl the info is in the clear.  While they
do make some efforts to secure Squeezecenter you must remember this is
an application that is built with the thought that it is used only on a
local LAN behind a firewall.

Now that said, I know many users access their server remotely using an
ssh tunnel which is a perfect way to access it.  This is not possible
on a non-jailbroken iphone though because the iphone does not support
background apps.

Forgot the important point.
Sure you may not want someone controlling your players but the big
concern is that if there exists a vulenabilty in either the SC code or
Perl that SC relys on then someone could gain access to the server
running SC which is a bigger concern.  From that point they could do
many not so great things.
