I have known different equipment play all sorts of havoc with other equipment.
The thing to do is take the DAC out of the loop completely. Unplug it and tuck it under the sofa out of the way. Unplug and replug the SB. If it works, it is the DAC or it's power supply causing the problem. You don't say whether you are using an optical or coax connection. If coax, it -could- be picking up rubbish that is messing with the SB. Is the SB running wireless?
