After experimenting some more I found conclusively that the VAC-1 is the guilty component. It sits above the SB3 on my TV stand, which incidentally puts it more or less in between the SB and my router.
I was able to move the VAC-1 back and forth on my TV stand to get 100% repeatable results. If I move it forward so that it's "in front" of the SB, no problems. If I move it backwards so that it's on top of or slightly behind the SB, the remote becomes unresponsive, and the connection drops seconds later. Moving it forward again, the connection resumes instantly. I will reconnect things so that the Squeezebox is above the CI units tomorrow, which is probably the much more common and logical setup, and see what happens. I suspect it will probably be fine. The CI units are only where they are while I audition them. I have no idea if the VAC is a switching power supply -- how would I tell? I guess my main concern now is: could this interference possibly be damaging to my SB3 (or worse, more expensive pieces of gear nearby like my amp, TV, or speakers)? Could it also be affecting sound quality as well? To the last question, my sense is no -- to be fair the unit sounds pretty darn good! -- dekaliber ------------------------------------------------------------------------ dekaliber's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=9852 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=63281 _______________________________________________ discuss mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
