It's unclear exactly what Jippers wants. If he wants to equalise the
perceived loudness across tracks without affecting the dynamic range,
then for sure ReplayGain with SmartGain on the Squeezebox is the correct
solution.

But I kind of got the impression that he might be looking for something
more like an AGC function - it probably depends on his listening
environment. (For example I find the AGC feature of my Rio Karma DAP
invaluable when listening in the car). I simply mentioned SOX as a
possible means of achieving this, if it is indeed what he wants.
