As one of those with 100k+ tracks, I have to explain to my friends and
family that think I'm crazy ("how could you ever listen to all those
songs?"), for me it is about having the song I want to hear from the
artist at the time I want to hear it (or someone else wants to hear it).
If that's only once in a decade, that's fine. I have it just in case.
p.s. I use an old dell laptop as my server (windows XP machine) with
attached USB harddrives. It is on a gigabyte network. All my SBs are
ethernet on same network (except for controller and iphone with ipeng
that are obviously wifi). Other than a clear and rescan of my music,
everything runs pretty fast and I don't notice any slowness. (Contrast
this with my initial experience with a READYNAS DUO.....although it
worked in terms of streaming the music, it was painfully slow with web
interface or with ipeng).
