Something's definitely awry in our setup. I've over 100k FLAC encoded tracks in my library all with >= 500x500 artwork embedded. SBS runs on a Thecus N5200PRO (Celeron M 1.5GHz CPU, 512MB DDR RAM) and I make use of the web UI, iPeng and occasionally the Controller - all fly and I've no problems browsing, even when it comes to criteria such as genre and years. As others have indicated, SBS running on Linux definitely outperforms same on Windows, so you'd achieve performance gains going down this route, however, for performance to be as bad as you suggest, something else has to be wrong also. Your scan time puzzles me - my full collection clears and rescans in around 2.5 hours. Having said that, I've always noticed that running a scan on Linux visibly and audibly puts the system under load whereas doing the same in Windows doesn't seem to and this could account for the scan times. Another thing to check is whether you have multiple tag typed embedded in your mp3's. Re Controller/ iPeng load times, how's your wireless signal? Mine's quick enough that I don't notice any lags, hell, Pippin's managed to load my library remotely and was surprised at the speed. -- audiomuze IF YOU WANT CONTINUED SUPPORT FOR CUSTOMSCAN AND CUSTOMBROWSE PLUGINS, VOTE FOR 'BUG #6023 - NEW PLUGIN HOOKS TO IMPLEMENT SCANNING FUNCTIONS' (HTTPS://BUGS.SLIMDEVICES.COM/SHOW_BUG.CGI?ID=6023) AND LET PLUGIN DEVELOPERS DO WHAT LOGITECH WON'T.
