Here's my latest discovery: when I press the "+" button on the radio it brings up a huge amount of information about the track playing. One of items it says is that the file being played is WMA lossless. On the bitrate line it says it's "VBR" (variable bit rate--I looked it up ;-)), @ 900-1000 kbps, but converted to FLAC @ 705 kbps. I found this quote: "What are the major disadvantages of VBR encoded MP3 files? - Some older MP3 players cannot play them. - Must be re-encoded in order to be streamed. Although variable speed compressed files are difficult to stream continuously over most Internet connections, those that download the entire file before viewing are unaffected."
