Aw, man. I really (-really-) can't take on any more "free-time"
projects. I do love jazz, and my Squeezeboxen, and I do have about 35
years experience as a software engineer. But probably about 20 of those
years I was using languages (and assemblers, and proto-languages) that
don't really exist anymore, and I used Perl for only a very brief time,
10 or 12 years ago. My Java is pretty rusty too. I've also worn a DBA's
hat, and understand ER diagrams and UML, and I've written a few little
apps of my own to pull stuff out of the SB server database, but I
haven't bothered to check in on the new DB format (it's moved back to
SQLite, hasn't it? I'm still using 7.5.0 and the MySQL version of the
DB). So before I'd be worth a spit, I'd have to spend time getting up
to speed, and I really (-really-) don't have the time these days.

If you don't mind keeping me in the loop, I might be able to offer
suggestions (hopefully worthwhile ones), and I wouldn't mind doing some
testing. I'd also be willing to look at source code and offer
suggestions for debugging or performance enhancements sometimes. But my
schedule just won't let me commit to any development obligations. I know
how a small hobby-development effort can turn into long hours absorbed
in code, without noticing the time, and I really can't get back into
the habit of sitting up until 3am every night tinkering with code. Much
as I loved doing it in my younger days, I don't want to fall back into
that again. It ends up being like a drug habit, hard to get out of and
hard on your body (and home and social life).
