Personally, I listen to whole albums. I generally search by band/lead
artist, i.e. the named artist on a given recording, which is basically
the same as how I listen to rock music. I've never had a desire or a
reason want to search by sidemen or by instrument.

If I were to segment my jazz listening, the primary distinction would
be acoustic vs. electric jazz, although there's plenty of blurring
between the two.
